Color is power. Color speaks. Some colors shout, others whisper. Color has the power to energize, to stress, to relax a mood. Color can create spaces where we can feel emotionally connected and thrive. In order to use colors freely in the present, we think it’s important to explore your own relationship and experience with color. We also think it’s important to go beyond standard color theory.
Perhaps you feel a little timid when it comes to using color in your life or in your creative work. Maybe you find yourself feeling a little stuck or lost when it comes to color. Or maybe you just want to harness your creative power and take your palettes to the next level.

Join us for 3 days of color inspired workshops where we will dive into our relationships to color.

Learn the rules, then break them: we’ll learn basics of color theory, then dive deeper into our emotions and intuition around color
Connecting with our color past: we will provide prompts to connect to our color stories in order to explore our memory-based experiences with color.

We are Susan Fischer and Elisabetta Rizzato,
and we are so excited to welcome you this September to Portugal. We were brought together through our passion for and approach to color, and we can’t wait to share this color connection with you.
SUSAN, WHAT’S YOUR COLOR JOURNEY?
I am a Lisbon based Chilean Architect with a passion for color. Color has always been present in my life. From wearing mainly pink as a baby to my unforgettable red stuffed dog, to the bright neon colors of the 80’s, to my green fenced house, to my rainbow phase teenage years, to my years learning watercolor, to studying architecture, to living in a few different countries, to my move to Lisbon a few years ago. The city welcomed me with its cheerful and colorful streets. My heart led me back to color and I decided to complement my training as an Architect, with becoming an International Color Consultant, and a representative of luxury paint brands like Little Greene.
Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of working with clients in Portugal and beyond to create inviting and colorful spaces they love, to curate a color palette for a Portuguese paint brand and to speak about color at many different events. I host color immersion workshops for interior designers and architects to help them think color out of the box and to use it with more freedom.

ELISABETTA, WHAT’S YOUR COLOR JOURNEY?
I am a an italian architect turned color and trend consultant. My journey started in 2013 by launching italianbark as my personal blog, out of boredom and insatisfaction on my traditional architecture job in a studio. Thanks to an authentic connection with my followers and an innate ability to predict key design trends, the blog grew into a global reference point for upcoming trends in the industry.
I am now a trend and color consultant, as well as the founder of TRENDBARK agency. I guide brands to understand and implement emerging trends through tailored research and custom concept developments. In addition, I consistently provide valuable resources for design professionals, through meticulously crafted ebooks and engaging webinars.
I have an insane passion for colourful markers and an uncontrollable urge to put everything I see in color scales. While I live in the green countryside near Venice, London feels like my city - if only i didn't have the heart of a country girl.

WHERE IS the COLOR&TRENDS RETREAT TAKING PLACE?
We are lucky to have such lovely hosts at Humus Farm, a rustic and charming organic family-run farm and creative space located just 30 minutes from Lisbon in the beautiful Setúbal district. Here we will be free to roam through the fruit orchards and be surrounded by nature.
Started by Ana and Bruno, a Portuguese couple who wanted to adopt a simpler life outside of the city, the organic farm grows an abundant range of fruits and vegetables.
Humus got its name from their desire to replenish the soil and bring richness back to the environment that surrounds it. The farm is charming, with an iconic Portuguese palette of white-blue-and-red, with sweet cottages where we will stay, and a barn that has been converted into a beautiful creative space where our color workshops will take place.
There are lots of cute outdoor spaces for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful Portuguese climate. Weather in September is usually sunny and lovely. There is a swimming pool and the farm is ours to explore.
The meals will be colorful, and served al fresco. We will have the pleasure of feasting from the farm’s own organic produce (vegan and vegetarian options available).
The farm is located about 45 minutes from the gorgeous Natural Park of Arrábida, one of Portugal’s most beautiful coastlines — so we will do a color-inspired daytrip to experience these special landmarks.
We also recommend booking a few extra days in Lisbon, to experience all this charming and colorful and pattern-filled city has to offer and get inspired!
ABOUT THE ACCOMODATION
We will stay in double- occupancy rooms with single beds (2 people per room) and shared bathrooms.
There will be a limited number of premium solo rooms available — first come first serve!

We offer a refund of 50% of the deposit if canceled by August 15, 2024. Cancellations after this point are non-refundable. If you cannot attend, you can transfer your booking to someone else.

Guest is responsible for obtaining travel insurance with adequate insurance cover for their travels. If you come by air travel, we recommend to book a flexible ticket or an insurance with your flight.
